Sivananda Yoga is a classical form of yoga, also known as hatha yoga. A general class incorporates a number of exercises and asanas (still postures) which focus on the breath and help to increase the body's flexibility and strength. 

During the class a series of techniques are used, such as Pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and relaxation exercises, all of which help to relax the nervous system and reduce stress. Ultimately these practices help to restore the body's natural balance. Through the practice of these disciplines we can increase the mobility of the entire body, especially the spine. Hatha yoga can also help reduce minor back pain, headaches and many other ailments.
