M Dehala
Masters in Osteopathy (M.Ost)
Manjot Dehala is a fully qualified osteopath who graduated with a Masters in Osteopathy from the prestigious British School of Osteopathy in London.
She is passionate about integrated health and well being. Osteopathy is a natural way to help relieve many conditions including back and neck pain, arthritic pain, stress and posture related conditions and any muscle or joint aches or strains. Treatment is suitable for all, from babies and children, to the elderly, for people needing rehabilitation and those with either active or desk bound occupations.
Osteopathy is a system of healthcare that recognises each person as an individual and is complementary to conventional medicine. Using a highly developed sense of touch, recognising the link between the structure of the human body and the its integrated functions, osteopaths identify problem areas of the body. Utilising gentle stretching and mobilisation techniques as well as joint manipulation, the osteopath works with the body to create the right conditions for healing and promote the body's natural homeostatic mechanism.
What is Osteopathy? What should I expect?
Osteopathy is taking a deeper, holistic view about the body, posture, function and the connection between mental state, environment and surroundings, health and well-being.
Osteopathy can be applied to the management of simple and complex conditions; for the back, joints and muscles, head, neck and 'TMJ' issues, and as an adjunct to treating common, chronic, multi-system medical issues, both in adults and children.
By allowing freedom of movement and adequate support, a healthy skeleton not only protects our organs but it also plays a fundamental role in how the organs work and how healthy they are. In addition, it uses the most energy and we use it for movement internally.
What can I expect from an osteopathy treatment?
A first examination with an osteopath, for example, will include a full case history, an examination of your musculo-skeletal system and other clinical tests (e.g. of the nervous system), a differential diagnosis, treatment if appropriate, and possible prognosis and outcome.
After the actual treatment, you will feel a change: more mobile and fluid and with less pain. In some instances, your body may feel slightly more painful or inflamed as osteopaths harness the body’s own healing mechanism by increasing mediators of inflammation to aid healing. So you may feel slightly worse for 24-48 hours.
